January 29, 2015

"Conserving Nature by Conserving Food-Webs" is the topic of Doug Tallamy, Ph.D., pictured, entomologist and plenary speaker at the Missouri Natural Resources Conference. His talk will be presented on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015, at Tan-Tar-A, Resort at the Lake of the Ozarks in Osage Beach.

Tallamy, a professor in the Department of Entomology and Wildlife Ecology at the University of Delaware, has authored 80 research articles and has taught insect taxonomy, behavioral ecology, humans and nature, insect ecology and other courses for 32 years. Chief among his research goals is to better understand the many ways insects interact with plants and how such interactions determine the diversity of animal communities. His book Bringing Nature Home; How Native Plants Sustain Wildlife in Our Gardens (Timber Press, 2007) was awarded the 2008 silver medal by the Garden Writer's Association. The Living Landscape, coauthored with Rick Darke, was published in 2014. Tallamy was awarded the Garden Club of America Margaret Douglas Medal for Conservation and the Tom Dodd Jr. Award of Excellence in 2013.

The full conference dates are February 4-6, 2015. Registration here may be for the plenary session only ($45), other social events for separate registrations, or for the full conference ($90/$110).
