Judged July quilt show is seeking entrants
February 17, 2015
This "Heart to Hands " Christmas quilt will be offered in a drawing at the 2015 Grand Lake O' the Cherokees quilt show. The drawing is one of many events featured that also include workshops and demonstrations, cash prizes, quilt appraisals, an Artisan Shoppe, vendor mall, bed turning and a fabric and textile art display.

Plans are under way for the 2015 Grand Lake O' the Cherokees quilt show. "Christmas in July" is the theme of this show which will be held at the Grove Civic Center, 1702 S. Main St., on Friday, July 24, 2015, from 9 a.m to 6 p.m. and Saturday July 25, 2015, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The GLOC Quilt Guild is calling all interested quilters to submit a quilt for this judged event. Quilt show judge, Alice F. McElwain, an AQS certified quilt appraiser, has judged shows since 1989. She also will be doing quilt appraisals by appointment during the show.

Entries do NOT have to have a Christmas theme. They do NOT have to be made this year. However, the entries CANNOT have already won a ribbon at a previous GLOC Quilt Guild quilt show. The cost to enter a quilt is $5.

Awards include "Best of Show," $300; "Viewer's Choice," $100; and a new category this year, the "Mayor's Choice," $25.

Quilt guilds may qualify for a free area at the show. Those with 25 members or less must enter at least three quilts in the show; those with 26 members or more must enter five quilts. Those participants may not be GLOC Guild members.

To request an entry form with categories of quilts listed go here. Entry forms are due no later than July 3, 2015.

The GLOC Quilt Guild meets from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. on the first Friday of every month (except July) at the Grove Community Center, 104 W. 3rd Street, Grove, Oklahoma. For more information contact Peggy Johnson by sending her an e-mail here.
